Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Services (EDAS) is a leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation committed to empowering the Aboriginal community on Darkinjung Country through culturally safe, evidence-based and community-led services. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our Child, Family and Community Services team within the Permanency Support Program (PSP).

This is an exciting opportunity to use your clinical expertise to support children and young people with complex needs while working within a strong, multidisciplinary and culturally responsive team.

About the Role

As the Behaviour Support Practitioner, you will work closely with children, young people, carers, families and staff to assess behaviours of concern, develop Behaviour Support Plans and provide practical strategies that improve outcomes and build capability.

You will:

  • Conduct behavioural assessments and develop Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Provide specialist advice, coaching and support to carers, families and staff.
  • Support the reduction and elimination of restrictive practices.
  • Participate in case consultations and multidisciplinary care planning.
  • Deliver training and educational workshops.
  • Advocate for children and families to access appropriate supports and services.
  • Complete high-quality reports, case notes and clinical documentation.
  • Work within a trauma-informed, strengths-based and culturally safe practice framework.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or a related discipline.
  • Current professional registration or membership with the relevant governing body.
  • Experience developing and implementing Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Experience working with children, young people and families.
  • Strong assessment, report writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and person-centred practice.
  • Current NSW Driver Licence.
  • NSW Working with Children Check.
  • National Police Check.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience working within Out of Home Care, PSP or Child Protection programs.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Knowledge of NDIS Behaviour Support requirements.
  • Understanding of intergenerational trauma and culturally safe practice.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
