Sous Chef

The iconic Alma Tavern is looking for a professional, creative and hardworking Sous Chef with proven experience to join our kitchen on a full-time basis. 

• Iconic Norwood pub venue
• Busy food, functions and events focus
• Part of the Duxton Pubs group with growth opportunities

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

• Assist and support the Head Chef in all aspects of the business;
• Lead by example and ensure all procedures (health and safety, food handling, hotel policies) are maintained to the required standard and are being followed by all kitchen staff;
• Relay important information to the Head Chef and Management;
• Effective communication towards Front of House staff;
• Strong time management through effective planning;
• Maintain a high level of productivity;
• Motivate and develop team members through positive attitude and actions;
• Participate in the development of creative dishes for menu;
• Assist in ordering, cost controlling and waste management;
• Support decisions made and adapt to change, showing flexibility and enthusiasm; and
• Proactive in self-development.

About You

• Minimum Cert 3 in Commercial Cookery;
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership role;
• Hard-working, resilient and good attitude is a must; 
• Looking to grow your culinary career in a fast -growing hospitality group; and
• Full Australian work rights.
