The Role
At Drifter, great guest experiences start with great spaces — and clean linen helps keep the whole operation moving.
As our Maintenance Handyperson & Laundry Driver, you’ll play a practical, hands-on role across our Sydney properties. Part of your week will be spent keeping our spaces safe, functional and guest-ready, and part of your week will be focused on collecting, transporting and delivering linen between our properties and external laundry provider.
You’ll call our Glebe property home, but this role supports all of our Sydney locations, including Surry Hills and Bondi.
The weekly rhythm will generally look like:
-
Monday & Friday: Laundry driver duties
-
Tuesday & Wednesday: Maintenance duties
Flexibility may be required from time to time based on operational needs.
What You’ll Be Doing
On maintenance days, you’ll be helping with things like:
- General repairs, painting, patching and basic handyman tasks.
- Room inspections and picking up faults before they become bigger issues.
- Responding to maintenance requests and keeping things moving.
- Supporting preventative maintenance across the properties.
- Maintaining tools, equipment and supplies.
- Keeping indoor and outdoor areas safe, tidy and guest-ready.
- Working closely with Front Desk, Housekeeping and contractors onsite.
- Logging jobs, tracking issues and following up where needed.
On laundry driver days, you’ll be responsible for:
- Collecting used linen from our Sydney properties.
- Transporting linen to the external laundry provider.
- Collecting clean linen and delivering it back to each site.
- Keeping linen movement organised, efficient and on schedule.
- Tracking linen quantities collected and delivered.
- Reporting any shortages, damage or discrepancies to the team.
- Keeping the vehicle clean, organised and ready to go.
- Coordinating with property teams to keep the linen flow running smoothly.
Who We Are Looking For
We’re looking for someone practical, reliable and proactive who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in. You take pride in doing things properly, notice the little details and enjoy finding simple solutions to everyday operational challenges.
Previous experience in maintenance, facilities, construction, trades, handyman work, driving, logistics or similar hands-on roles would be highly regarded. Just as important is a positive attitude, willingness to learn and a strong focus on safety.
You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, managing your time well and communicating with guests, contractors and team members in a friendly and professional way.
You’ll also need:
- A current Australian driver licence.
- Confidence driving between sites and managing scheduled runs.
- A practical, hands-on approach.
- Strong reliability and personal accountability.
- A willingness to follow safety procedures and complete required training.
- Flexibility to support a 7-day operation, including some weekends, public holidays or peak periods if needed.
Why Work with Us?
Drifter is a welcoming and inclusive space where people come together to share stories and new experiences. We welcome guests and employees from all races, places, gender expressions and beliefs to be part of our team.
If you’re practical, dependable and keen for a role where no two days look exactly the same, we’d love to hear from you.
