About the role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality primary health care within Derbarl, while also contributing to the Yorga Moorditj Koort (Women’s Strong Hearts) clinical trial, led in partnership with the University of Melbourne.
This role blends clinical excellence with research engagement—supporting Aboriginal women through integrated care including GP management, nutrition, physical activity, and smoking cessation programs.
Key responsibilities
Clinical care & nursing practice
- Deliver high-quality, culturally safe primary health care
- Undertake health assessments, chronic disease management, and care coordination
- Triage clients, administer medications, and provide immunisations
- Support infection control, quality improvement, and best practice models
- Collaborate with GPs, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, and multidisciplinary teams
Yorga Moorditj Koort (YMK) project
- Conduct participant screening, baseline and follow-up assessments
- Provide smoking cessation support and ongoing participant care
- Coordinate regular participant check-ins (in person and by phone)
- Support recruitment, engagement, and retention of participants
- Monitor safety and report adverse events in line with protocols
- Participate in group sessions, including nutrition and physical activity programs
Collaboration & research support
- Work closely with the University trial team and Derbarl stakeholders
- Maintain accurate clinical and research data (Communicare & REDCap)
- Ensure compliance with research ethics and governance requirements
- Contribute to coordinated, family-centred and culturally secure care

You are a dedicated and culturally responsive nurse who is passionate about improving health outcomes for Aboriginal women. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are confident balancing clinical care with structured program delivery.
