Description

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team.

In this role, you’ll help ensure Cricket Victoria’s financial reporting is accurate, timely and insightful, while supporting projects and improvements that strengthen the way we work. From month-end reporting and statutory compliance to budgeting, forecasting and business partnering, you’ll play an important role in supporting teams across the organisation.

 

The Role

  • Coordinate monthly and annual financial close activities, including journals, reconciliations and general ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare monthly management reports, financial analysis and commentary to support informed decision-making.
  • Support the preparation of annual statutory financial statements, BAS, FBT returns and external audit requirements.
  • Support accurate and timely billing and invoicing processes for Cricket Australia, sponsors and key stakeholders.
  • Assist with the annual budget, quarterly forecasting and ongoing financial reporting.
  • Partner with managers across the organisation by providing financial information, reporting and budget support.
  • Identify and implement improvements to finance systems, processes and reporting capability.
  • Manage the fixed asset register, including acquisitions, disposals and depreciation.
  • Provide support across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll during peak periods.

 

About You

  • 2-5 years’ experience in a Financial Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of Australian Accounting Standards and financial accounting principles and experience preparing and coordinating annual statutory financial statements in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end close processes, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing financial reports and providing analysis to support business decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate financial information to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve finance processes and systems.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience using ERP/accounting systems.
  • Experience with Xero, Power BI, Phocas or similar reporting tools will be highly regarded.
  • CPA, CA or IPA qualified, or working towards completion.
  • A degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, a Victorian Employee Working with Children Check.
