Description

Join a Purpose-Driven Organisation

We are Covalent Land Australia (Covalent), a team driven by a passion for tackling climate change. We specialise in evidence-led solutions that reduce emissions through nature-based strategies, working in harmony with agricultural systems and investing in natural ecosystems. Our mission is to minimise environmental impact while building trust with our clients and stakeholders.

Our core values – Passion, Respect, Integrity, Practicality, and Innovation – guide everything we do. Join us to be part of a community that is dedicated to making a difference for our environment and future.

About the Role

We are looking for a practical, hands-on Field Lead to drive the delivery of high-quality natural resource management and carbon projects, with a strong focus on native reforestation.

This role is about owning outcomes – leading projects end-to-end while staying close to the field, the data, and the people delivering the work.

Working closely with landholders, stakeholders, project teams, and contractors, you will oversee vegetation management and monitoring, data and GIS analysis, and the delivery of project milestones. You will ensure all activities are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant regulations.

To work across our teams and project sites, this role requires regular travel. Depending on your home location, this will include regular travel to project sites (alternate weeks) or a 10-day drive-in/drive-out swing arrangement living on project sites.

While the role is remote/WFH based, we are looking specifically for individuals who are currently based in Upper Hunter, NSW ideally, in Scone or in/around Newcastle.

About You

Your technical expertise is supported with practical delivery, and you are comfortable leading in dynamic, field-based environments. Ideally you will bring:

  • A strong background in agronomy (highly regarded), with exposure to forestry or revegetation projects
  • Qualifications in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Forestry, Conservation and Land Management, or closely related discipline (Certificate III or higher; diploma/degree preferred).
  • 5+ years’ hands-on experience in land management, restoration, or large-scale agricultural operations, including leadership or supervisory experience
  • Practical expertise in soil, plant health, and vegetation management, with proven application in the field
  • Experience managing projects, contractors, and competing priorities
  • Proficiency in GIS, spatial analysis, and field data collection tools
  • Knowledge of NSW land management regulations, herbicide certification, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
