Description

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team on a temporary basis, providing maternity leave relief. This role is crucial for maintaining the financial integrity of our organisation during a transitional period. The successful candidate will oversee accounting operations, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and delivering accurate financial reporting to support strategic decision-making.

Responsibilities:

    • ·Lead and support the accounting team, including Finance Officers and the Graduate Accountant, by setting clear expectations, promoting teamwork, and developing capability.
    • ·Manage the organisation’s financial accounting, management accounting and cost accounting activities, including oversight of the general ledger, chart of accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • ·Prepare accurate and timely monthly, annual and statutory financial reports, including group consolidations, subsidiary and departmental reporting, and analysis for management and the Board.
    • ·Support the CFO in preparing Board and Board Committee papers, including commentary, analysis, financial insights and cash flow reporting.
    • ·Support the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
    • ·Maintain compliance with taxation, statutory reporting and other regulatory requirements, and coordinate internal and external audit activities on significant matters.
    • ·Design, implement and monitor internal financial controls, accounting policies, approved procedures and procurement processes to support strong governance and compliance.
    • ·Monitor business performance and provide insights using the organisation’s systems and business intelligence tools, including Power BI, Cognos BI and TM1.
    • ·Contribute to finance projects and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance systems, processes, service delivery and operational efficiency.
    • ·Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement in line with CSD’s values and standards.
    • ·Undertake other duties, projects or responsibilities reasonably aligned with the scope and level of the role, as required from time to time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CA, CPA) is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Experience with payroll processing and superannuation management.
