We span across six showrooms in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, plus e-commerce in Australia, and we are looking to welcome a dedicated Purchasing & Inventory Controller to our team based at the warehouse.
About the opportunity
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The Inventory Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth flow of inventory operations, optimising stock efficiency, and maintaining accuracy across all our locations.
This newly expanded role combines leadership of Cult’s purchasing function with hands-on responsibility for inventory accuracy, stock optimisation and supply continuity across all regions.
The Purchasing & Inventory Controller will oversee end‑to‑end purchasing, lead and mentor a remote purchasing team of 2, and ensure inventory operations run efficiently and accurately. The role offers significant cross-functional collaboration across sales, logistics, marketing, product development and production, and aims to drive best practice and continuous improvement within the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities include:
Purchasing Leadership & Operations
· Manage end-to-end purchasing across multiple international brands and product categories.
· Lead, mentor and support a remote purchasing team of 2, ensuring high performance, clear communication and accurate order management.
· Ensure all purchase orders are accurate (vendor details, currencies, product details, confirmations).
· Track purchase orders, follow up on delays, and communicate supply risks across the business.
· Develop and improve purchasing processes, including supplier communication, order accuracy and supplier performance monitoring.
· Maintain accurate supplier lead times and communicate changes to all relevant teams.
Inventory Management
· Review stock forecasts and purchasing plans to maintain optimal inventory levels in line with business demand.
· Coordinate and implement strategies to maintain highly accurate inventory levels across all locations (including stocktakes, audits, ERP utilisation, barcoding and automation).
· Optimise inventory efficiency by analysing stock performance, sales forecasts and supplier lead times in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
Work closely with showrooms to maintain best‑practice inventory management for display stock rotations and new collection launches.
· Collaborate with Product Development and Production teams to ensure appropriate component stock levels for manufacturing.
About you:
Experience
· 3+ years in purchasing, supply chain or inventory roles (combined experience preferred).
· Experience leading or developing a team (remote leadership advantageous).
· Experience working with ERP systems (Options ERP highly regarded).
Skills & attributes we are looking for:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field is desirable but not essential.
· Strong negotiation, supplier management and communication skills.
· Advanced Excel capability.
· High attention to detail and ability to manage complex workflows.
· Analytical mindset with continuous improvement orientation.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Experience in furniture, homewares or design products is a plus.
