Community Lifestyle Support Ltd (CLS) prides itself as a not-for-profit community organisation that has been operating for over 25 years, providing a holistic, person-centered support to people residing throughout the Bundaberg and Fraser Coast Regions (Hervey Bay & Maryborough).

CLS is seeking general applications for Lifestyle Support Workers to work in Bundaberg within the following settings:

Complex Care – High Care

Work in an environment where you provide high-quality support to participants living with complex care needs including mobility, health, and communication.

This includes providing personal care, and support to attend medical appointments and leisure activities.

Complex Care – Behaviour Support

Work in an environment where you provide high-quality support to participants living with complex needs including mental health, behaviour support and communication challenges. You will be required to work within a framework of positive behaviour support and to implement restrictive practices safely and ethically. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with CLS specialists and allied health professionals to better understand the person’s individual needs and improve their quality of life.”

Operational needs may require successful applicants to work across other areas of the service.

As a Lifestyle Support Worker, you will:

  • Have a willingness to work shift work (e.g. morning, afternoon, night) and split shifts throughout the day.
  • Help our clients with personal care needs i.e., feeding, showering, dressing.
  • Help our clients to learn new skills and socialise in their local community.
  • Assist with medication administration.
  • Assist in the preparation of nutritious meals.
  • Require self-confidence, as well as the ability to assess and manage risks.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a genuine interest in developing relationships with clients who have complex needs.
  • Maintain a non-judgmental approach.

To be considered you will have (or the ability to acquire):

  • Hold Certificate III (or higher) in Individual Support (Disability/Aged Care/Home and Community Care) or demonstrated 2 years relevant industry experience (preferred).
  • Current Yellow Card or NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current Blue Card
  • Current Driver’s Licence with own reliable vehicle (minimum third-party property damage insurance)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Documenting or journaling experience (preferred)
  • Have access to your own portable smart device e.g., phone, iPad, or Android tablet

Training will be provided in the following areas:

  • Manual handling (including hoists, lifts, and transfers)
  • Recognition of non-verbal cues
  • Personal care including showering, aide changing, bed baths
  • Medication administration
  • Bowel management
  • Seizure management
  • Restrictive practices
  • Positive Behaviour Support Plans
  • Supporting clients with challenging behaviours (MAYBO)
