The Position
Colourworks is looking for a customer-focused Help Desk Technician to join our Professional Services team. This is a primarily remote support role – you will be the first point of contact for our customers, diagnosing and resolving Canon hardware and connectivity issues by phone and remote access.
This is not a traineeship. We are looking for someone with solid foundations in IT support or help desk work who is ready to hit the ground running, take genuine ownership of the role, and continue developing their skills independently. Printer and MFD experience is not required – we will train the right person on Canon hardware.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving and managing incoming support requests via phone, email and our service management system (Jim2)
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware issues including print, scan, copy, email (SMTP) and driver problems remotely
- Using remote access tools to support customers in real time
- Logging accurate job notes and managing tickets through to resolution
- Communicating technical solutions clearly and confidently to non-technical users
- Escalating complex issues to field technicians or Professional Services where required
- Supporting internal staff with basic IT troubleshooting as needed
About You
- Demonstrated experience in a help desk, IT support or technical support role
- Comfortable troubleshooting Windows-based systems, print drivers and network connectivity issues
- Familiar with remote access tools and support workflows
- Strong communication skills – you explain things clearly, manage expectations well, and customers feel at ease talking to you
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Organised and methodical with good attention to detail
- Someone who genuinely enjoys solving problems and helping people
- Basic understanding of Mac systems is a bonus, but not essential
Applicants must have the legal right to work in Australia and be able to perform the inherent requirements of the role with or without reasonable adjustments.
Benefits
- $66,000 – $72,000 per year, commensurate with experience
- Stable, permanent full-time role with a well-established local business
- Supportive team environment with structured training and ongoing development
- Based in our Newcastle office – no regular travel required
- Family-friendly hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
