About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Female Disability Support Workers to provide ongoing support to a participant located in Smithfield, NSW.

Shift Details

  • 3 days per week
  • 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Ongoing roster
  • Immediate commencement available

About the Participant

The participant is a 40-year-old man who enjoys engaging in conversation, social interaction, and building meaningful connections with those around him. He is described as having a curious nature and a good sense of humour.

The participant has diagnoses including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Moderate Intellectual Disability
  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Schizophrenia
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

About the Role

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Providing one-on-one community and capacity-building supports
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the participant
  • Supporting community access and social engagement
  • Assisting with daily routines and activities
  • Encouraging independence and skill development
  • Completing accurate progress notes and documentation
  • Implementing support strategies in line with participant plans and organisational procedures

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience supporting people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and intellectual disability
  • Experience supporting participants who present with complex behaviours of concern
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred practice
  • Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
  • Confidence working independently in the community
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain if required)
  • Current First Aid & CPR
  • Current Driver’s Licence and reliable insured vehicle

Important Information
