About the Role:

 

We deliver a range of services across Tamworth, creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities through our supported workplaces.

 

We’re seeking an experienced Vocational Support Worker to join our team. This is a hands-on, outdoor role ideal for someone with strong grounds maintenance experience and a genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities to build skills and succeed in the workplace.

Duties:

  • Lead and work alongside a small mowing crew across residential and commercial properties
  • Operate commercial mowing equipment including ride-on mowers, whipper snippers, hedgers and blowers
  • Ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
  • Support, train and mentor crew members in developing their skills
  • Maintain equipment and ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and professional
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Positive, patient, and supportive leadership style
  • Ensure safe operation of mowing and gardening equipment
  • Plan and complete scheduled mowing and grounds maintenance jobs
  • Complete daily client progress notes and incident reports
  • Carry out other duties as directed

 

Skills and Experience:

 

Essential:

  • Proven experience in lawn mowing, landscaping, or grounds maintenance
  • Previous experience in the disability sector or a related field
  • Practical experience or knowledge of Work crew operations and yard maintenance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good time management, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

 

 Desirable:

  • Experience supporting people with disabilities in a vocational or supported employment setting
  • Experience supervising staff or work crews
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices
  • Small engine mechanical knowledge
