About the Role
Sterling Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to join our Civil QLD division. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day civil construction activities across road, drainage, and infrastructure projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Working closely with Project Managers, site crews, subcontractors, and clients, you will play a key role in driving productivity, maintaining compliance with DTMR specifications, and promoting a strong safety and quality culture across site operations.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervise daily site operations, subcontractors, plant, and construction activities.
- Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications, drawings, and company procedures.
- Lead site safety initiatives including toolbox talks, pre-starts, hazard management, and compliance with WHS requirements.
- Coordinate traffic management, construction staging, and material movements to maximise productivity and minimise risk.
- Monitor project progress, production targets, and workforce performance, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Maintain site records, daily diaries, quality documentation, permits, and reporting requirements.
- Liaise with Project Managers, clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Promote a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil infrastructure construction, particularly within DTMR road and drainage projects.
- Demonstrated experience supervising civil construction crews and subcontractors.
- Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and QA documentation.
- Current White Card and unrestricted Driver’s Licence.
- Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to workplace safety, environmental compliance, and high-quality project outcomes.
Desirable
- Civil plant operating experience and/or machinery tickets.
- Certificate III or IV in Civil Construction (or equivalent).
- Leadership or frontline management training.
- Rail industry experience or RIW Card highly regarded.
