Purpose of the Position
The FWBO’s plays a vital role in supporting the Family Wellbeing (FWB) service by delivering frontline case management services. Their core purpose is to help achieve better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, guided by the families’ own goals, values, and cultural priorities.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Participate in assessment, case planning, organisation and delivery of service provision and interventions, reporting and engagement for families
- Follow Assessment and Case Management procedures and standards and contribute to continual improvement of services
- Maintain a trauma-informed, strength-based and culturally safe standard of care and support for all client and community interactions
- Conduct a range of practical in-home supports and early intervention strategies with referred families experiencing a variety of challenges
- Build respectful and professional relationships with service users, agencies, partners, community, colleagues and clients
- Ensure quality record management and implement Case Plans, including advocating for, supporting and journeying with the family to achieve their desired outcomes
- Accountable for achieving key performances indicators (KPI’s) by consistently monitoring progress, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies to meet or exceed targets
- Actively identify, develop and coordinate groups and activities for current clients and local community members
- Collaborate and contribute to routine reviews and audits to support quality assurance and continuous improvement outcomes
- Work always to advance the reputation of CQID and undertake additional relevant duties as required.
- Participate and contribute to the organisation’s compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS)
- At all times work within CQID’s Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate capability in the following areas:
- Holds a current C Class Queensland Drivers Licence
- Current Working with Children Check, ‘Blue Card’
- Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Tertiary qualification om a relevant discipline or a minimum of five years’ equivalent professional experience in a related field
- Experience at successful service delivery to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- Understanding of the statutory child protection system, including the Child Protection Act 1999 and Human Rights Act 2019
- Experience delivering culturally appropriate services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- Experience in developing and managing case plans
Skills and Attributes
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage – [Note: Non-Indigenous applicants will only be considered if no suitable Indigenous candidates are attracted in the first round of applicants]
- Competent in use of Microsoft Office and client management system software
- Physical ability to undertake job responsibilities
- Ability to communicate effectively; spoken and written
- Self-starter, motivated and able to manage work tasks
- Strong Connection to and knowledge of local Indigenous Community
- Demonstrated experience in case management of direct client work with vulnerable families, preferably in a housing, child protection, or family support context
- Proven ability to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families
- Strong understanding of the factors impacting vulnerable families, including trauma, homelessness, poverty, and intergenerational disadvantage
- Knowledge of child safety frameworks, protective and risk factors, and strength-based planning
- High-level interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills
- Proficient in maintaining case notes, documentation, and data entry
