Pay Rate

Description

  • Permanent Part Time – Minimum 10 hours per week.
  • Flexibility required with hours, availability between 07:00am until 5:00pm – Monday to Friday, no weekend work

As a member of the Home and Yard Maintenance Team, this role is responsible for delivering general yard maintenance services to eligible and fee-for-service clients in line with program objectives. The role operates in accordance with the Home & Yard Maintenance Service Delivery Model and undertakes on-site risk assessments of external environments and proposed works to ensure services are safe, compliant and within approved scope.

The Yard Maintenance Officer completes authorised and scheduled works in accordance with safety, environmental and quality requirements, manages equipment and materials in line with workplace health, safety and environmental standards, accurately documents service delivery and client outcomes in approved systems and escalates access, safety or scope issues through established pathways to support client safety, workforce sustainability and compliance with service standards.

The Yard Maintenance Officer is responsible for:

• Provide clients with information about program services and eligibility;

• Undertake yard maintenance tasks such as mowing, whipper snipping, pruning, weed spraying & green waste removal in accordance with service agreements and relevant program funding requirements;

• Support client’s independence by ensuring outdoor areas remain safe and functional for daily use;

• Identify & report hazards, damage, and need for professional servicing or maintenance concerns to relevant line manager and enter into risk management system;

• Communicate professionally with clients to ensure services are respectful, culturally appropriate and responsive to their needs;

• Maintain tools and equipment in safe working conditions and operate them in line with workplace health and safety protocols;

• Carry out simple preventative maintenance to extend the life and efficiency of yard equipment. Perform minor adjustments or simple repairs where safe and appropriate (e.g. replace spark plugs, clean filters, put oil in equipment and ensure all records of maintenance checks are completed as per procedure; and

• Providing appropriate information and referral to clients and senior program staff to meet client needs and to ensure the ongoing financial viability of the program.

Qualifications and Experience

• Basic horticulture qualifications and/or experience in a similar role;

• First Aid/CPR – including responding to snake bite training; and

• Current C class Driver’s license (QLD).

Other Requirements

• Good physical fitness and the ability to maintain manual handling work

This position requires the completion of an Australian Federal Police check, an NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
