The Position
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join our team, supporting the firm across all offices. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in managing the firm’s accounts receivable function and ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts.
In this hands-on role, you will work closely with partners, fee earners, and clients to manage the billing and collections cycle from end to end.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the firm’s debtors ledger and pursuing outstanding invoices in a timely and professional manner
- Communicating with clients regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements
- Liaising with partners and fee earners to resolve billing queries and disputes
- Processing receipts and reconciling client accounts
- Monitoring aged debtors and preparing regular reports for management
- Assisting with month-end processes and debtor reporting
- Supporting continuous improvement across the credit control function
Essential Experience and Criteria
You are a confident communicator with a sharp eye for detail and a practical approach to problem solving. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and building effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You will bring a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role, along with strong knowledge of billing and collections processes. Experience in a law firm or insurance environment is preferred. You are proficient in accounting or practice management software and have a solid understanding of debtor management principles. Your communication skills are strong, and you are comfortable having direct conversations with clients and fee earners regarding outstanding accounts.
We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible. This role is based in Brisbane, though applications from candidates based in Sydney or Melbourne will also be considered.
