The role:

We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join the organisation within our Eastern Operation team in Sydney.

The key objectives for this role will be to manage operational requirements day-to-day to ensure contractual compliance and contractual KPI’s are met and CareFlight is well positioned for contract renewal. Be an active member of the NSW Management team and collaborate effectively across the team, as well as collaborate with and service external stakeholders to position CareFlight as a trusted partner. Whilst providing management and coordination of CareFlight Air Ambulance Operations, consistent with contractual commitments and company strategy.

Responsibilities will also include:

  • Work in the operations centre coordinating missions during times of high tempo operations or to cover staff leave
  • Liaise with relevant internal stakeholders to align availability of assets and crew, and ensure operational efficiencies during scheduled offline periods
  • Oversight of CareFlight’s contracts and ensuring the prescribed KPI’s are being delivered
  • In consultation with the relevant departments, lead in driving resolutions to unscheduled periods of offline time or roster short falls
  • Define and streamline processes and systems for the consistent delivery of services within operations.
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive client relationships to ensure services offered meet client needs, contract compliance, performance analysis and reporting requirement to external stakeholders.
  • Maintain mission information for NSW Operations to ensure statistical reporting is able to be undertaken and provided where required/requested.
  • Produce reports/data as required and assist with client reporting requirements
  • Work closely with the Head of Eastern Operations to achieve successful outcomes and actively drive CareFlight’s strategic objectives
  • Work closely with the Partnerships team in client liaison and business development to ensure ongoing growth in client base
  • Work with the Head of Eastern Operations to deliver effective internal communications to ensure all teams are aware of current developments, changes and other important news.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to review and develop operational guidelines, policies and procedures with the focus of improving practice.
  • Provision of after-hours operations support – rotating on call roster to manage and coordinate after hours aeromedical missions and provide operational support to teams.

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

Essential

  • Demonstrable leadership skills and exposure in an operational environment.
  • A strong ability to problem solve, think outside the box, make decisions, propose and negotiate solutions and action solutions.
  • A successful background in operations management of a multi-disciplinary organisation.
  • Knowledge of aviation terminology and experience with aviation operations.
  • High level of organisational and logistical administration skills.
  • Demonstrable negotiation skills in relation to resources management in a complex environment.
  • Superior internal and external client management and service delivery skills, including the ability to identify opportunities for service growth.
  • The ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with proven stakeholder engagement and networking skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently, with attention to detail to manage multi tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in maintaining several databases of information for reporting against client/customer details and activity, missions completed and missed, and other activity reports as required.
  • Experience of using reporting software/producing reports and interpreting of results.
  • Ability to work with roster systems to ensure all required positions are covered.
  • The ability to obtain/ hold an ASIC and working with children clearance.
  • Hold a current Driver’s Licence.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
  • Management of operational experience gained from the aviation, health and/ or not for profit sectors.
