cape group (cape) is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee providing services to people with a disability and is a Registered NDIS Provider.

 

Nadrasca joined with Brite in April 2025 to form cape group, a newly formed brand resulting from the merger of the two NDIS registered providers with a combined 120 years in operation across the eastern and northern suburbs.

 

Together, we provide a range of services for people with disability, including home and living supports, social and community participation activities, youth employment assistance, supported employment, and NDIS support coordination.

The Position

 The Senior Support Worker (2IC) supports the House Supervisor and leads a team of support workers to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. You’ll help plan and provide support that empowers people with disabilities to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives at home and in the community. This role also includes stepping into the House Supervisor position when required, ensuring continuity and excellence in service.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Quality, Safety, and Person-Centred Support

  • Deliver person-centred active support and positive behaviour strategies in line with cape policies.
  • Support residents’ health, wellbeing, and community inclusion, including access to healthcare and services.
  • Maintain accurate health records and ensure compliance with food safety and household budgets.
  • Facilitate resident meetings and foster an inclusive, welcoming environment.
  • Oversee support workers, provide guidance, and ensure high standards of cleanliness and comfort.
  • Comply with NDIS Quality and Safeguards reporting requirements and incident management processes.
  • Participate in audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

2. Operations

  • Assist with NDIS plan reviews and maintain accurate resident documentation.
  • Manage household maintenance requests and financial processes, including budgets and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and NDIS standards in all operational tasks.

3. Staff Management

  • Support efficient house operations, including onboarding new staff.
  • Provide informal feedback, mentoring, and coaching to support workers.
  • Identify training needs and escalate issues to the House Supervisor or Community Living Manager.

 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Certificate IV Disability or equivalent sector experience is required.
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively support people with disability in daily living and personal care skills.
  • Ability to undertake and oversee a range of household duties, including meal preparation and household cleaning to a high standard.
  • Must be able to work shifts that may involve weekends, morning and evening work, and sleepovers.
  • Intermediate to advanced IT skills, including competency with client databases and use of the Microsoft Office Suite, email, web browsing and video conferencing platforms.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Experience in dementia would receive favourable consideration.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise time to ensure achievement of required outcomes.
