At our renowned Riverina Cancer Care Centre in Wagga Wagga, we are seeking a reliable and dedicated permanent part-time Cleaner (0.4 FTE) to join our team and support a safe and high-quality care environment for the local community.
Reporting to the Centre Manager, this role is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control across the Centre to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
This permanent part-time role offers 15 hours per week (0.4 FTE), working Monday to Thursday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
What’s Involved – In this role you will:
- Perform daily cleaning of patient and non-patient areas to a high standard
- Maintain treatment rooms, bathrooms, waiting areas, offices, and shared spaces in a clean and hygienic condition
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces and patient-related equipment in accordance with infection prevention protocols
- Follow colour-coded cleaning systems and approved cleaning procedures
- Carry out specialised and terminal cleaning procedures where required
- Safely handle and dispose of general, infectious, and cytotoxic waste and linen
- Respond promptly to spills and contamination incidents in line with safety protocols
- Use appropriate PPE and TGA-approved cleaning products and disinfectants
- Report maintenance issues, hazards, or safety concerns promptly
- Maintain accurate cleaning records and support audit processes
- Work collaboratively with the broader multidisciplinary team to support a positive patient experience
What you bring:
- Previous cleaning experience, ideally within a healthcare, hospital, or medical environment
- Understanding of safe handling practices for cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and PPE
- A strong commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and infection prevention standards
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work thoroughly and efficiently
- Good time management skills and ability to complete tasks within required timeframes
- Reliable and punctual approach to work
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and competency assessments
- A positive, proactive attitude and commitment to patient-centred care
