Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Aquatics Operations and Performance Manager to lead our Learn to Swim and Aquatics programs at Stellar Canberra.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, commercial performance, workforce leadership, compliance, and member experience across our aquatics department. You will lead a dedicated team of swim instructors, lifeguards and swim supervisors while ensuring the safe, professional and successful delivery of our Learn to Swim and pool programs.

Responsibilities
• Lead the day-to-day operations of the Learn to Swim and aquatics programs.
• Develop, implement and review swim program timetables to maximise utilisation, efficiency and member outcomes.
• Lead and support Swim Supervisors, Lifeguards and Swim Instructors to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
• Analyse participation, utilisation and operational data to identify growth opportunities and improve commercial performance.
• Collaborate with reception and operational teams to improve member retention, communication and service delivery.
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, rostering and workforce planning across the aquatics department.
• Conduct performance management, coaching and development activities to build a high-performing team.
• Maintain oversight of pool operations, compliance requirements and operational safety procedures.
• Coordinate incident management, emergency response processes and workplace safety initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and member satisfaction.
Qualifications / Skills
• Demonstrated experience in aquatics, recreation, health and wellness, or operational leadership environments.
• Experience leading teams within a customer-focused operational setting.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively to operational challenges.
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience with workforce planning, rostering and day-to-day operational leadership.
• Current nationally recognised swim teaching accreditation and professional registration.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification.
• Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
• Experience working within a health club, aquatic centre, recreation facility or multi-purpose venue.
• Aquatics Operations qualification or similar.
• Experience managing member escalations and operational incidents.
• Experience implementing compliance, quality assurance or operational improvement frameworks.
