About Broadsheet
Broadsheet is one of the country’s most influential independent publishers and award-winning media brands. In addition to our website, we reach millions of readers through social media, print papers, videos, cookbooks and events.
For more than 17 years Broadsheet has been the go-to for Australian culture. Our goal is to connect our audience with the very best our cities have to offer, from food and drink, art and design to entertainment and travel.
The Broadsheet Studio is the in-house content arm of Broadsheet. We work closely with commercial partners to meet marketing objectives in smart and sophisticated ways. Rather than publishing advertorial, we create unique content and off-platform experiences that exist at the point where audience interests intersect with brand values.
We’re a multifaceted and talented team of specialists that includes creatives, editors, video and audio producers, videographers, event managers, writers and photographers. Our client-service professionals are dedicated to ensuring projects are delivered on time, on brief and to an exceptionally high standard.
The Role
Reporting into the Group Strategy Manager, the Branded Content Editor is pivotal in assisting the day-to-day running of the creative team and producing branded content that is insightful, engaging and best-in-class.
We are looking for someone with writing and editing experience who genuinely cares about the unique challenge of creating branded content (content sponsored by advertising partners) and journalistic rigour. They will extend Broadsheet’s stringent editorial practices to our partner content, ensuring our commercial work is just as thought-provoking, accurate, rigorous, and forward thinking as our editorial content.
They will understand the Broadsheet brand – who we are, what we stand for, our tone and utility – and leverage that understanding to write copy, edit articles, commission and co-manage a pool of contributors, brainstorm, apply client feedback and provide talent suggestions across our content pillars: food and drink, art and design, fashion, entertainment, travel and active lifestyle
The role requires a highly-organised, flexible and reliable individual who is self-motivated, consistently meets tight and often concurrent deadlines, and has a “yes” mentality.
The Branded Content Editor will join a high-performing and supportive team and have the opportunity to make an important impact at one of Australia’s most recognised, reputable and innovative digital publishers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the production of written branded content in partnership with the Group Strategy Manager.
- Commissioning and managing contributors.
- Editing contributor copy – ensuring copy has fulfilled the requirements of the brief and balances the needs of the client with Broadsheet’s tone and voice.
- In some cases rewriting commissioned content.
- Responding to client feedback and making amends as directed by the campaign management team.
- Assisting the creative and strategy teams in brainstorms, creative concepts and talent suggestions.
- Writing copy for both commercial and Broadsheet brand projects.
Your Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience in professional/commercial writing and editing, with experience in branded content preferred.
- Understanding of the Broadsheet brand and the way in which we integrate branded content and experiences into the Broadsheet world.
- Some experience and/or familiarity with a CMS.
- A basic knowledge of SEO best practice.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
- Solid fact-checking skills and ability to think deeply about the content we produce.
- Highly-organised and able to deliver quality work to tight (and multiple) deadlines.
Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
At Broadsheet, we are committed to developing a workforce that embraces all aspects of diversity, and we work hard to ensure we are a welcoming organisation that prioritises equality and inclusion and fosters a sense of belonging for all our staff.
We take pride in our acceptance of the unusual, and we are deliberate and reflective about our culture, seeking those we believe embrace an empathetic, caring, and supportive environment. Diversity comes in many forms, and we know that having many points of view, experiences, and ideas is key to us being a successful organisation.
We warmly encourage applications from First Nations peoples, people with disabilities, and individuals of all ages, nationalities, backgrounds, and cultures. We want everyone to feel safe being open about who they are so we can provide the best support for you to perform at your best. We encourage applicants to discuss any reasonable adjustments needed during the recruitment process.
