Position: Montessori Parent and Child Program Guide 

Contract: Permanent Part Time  

Hours: Thursday 8.00am – 3.00pm (6.5hours) with potential for increasing hours as the programs grows

About the Role: 

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Montessori educator to lead our Parent & Child Program for families with children aged 0–3 years. This unique program provides parents and carers with the opportunity to participate alongside their child, gaining firsthand experience of the Montessori philosophy in a nurturing and engaging environment. 

Based in a purpose-built learning space designed specifically for infants and toddlers, the program operates during school terms and supports families in understanding and fostering their child’s early development. 

As the Program Facilitator Guide, you will create and maintain a carefully prepared Montessori environment that encourages children’s natural curiosity, independence, and development. You will guide parents and carers in understanding Montessori principles while supporting children as they explore, move, touch, manipulate, and learn through their senses. 

To be successful, you will have: 

  • Lead engaging Parent & Child sessions for children aged 0–3 years and their families.  
  • Prepare and maintain an authentic Montessori environment that supports early childhood development.  
  • Builds positive and respectful relationships with parents and carers, providing guidance on Montessori principles and practices while fostering confidence, connection, and consistency between the home and BMS community. Communicates openly and professionally, supporting families to understand child development and encouraging active participation in their child’s journey. 
  • Observe and support each child’s individual developmental journey.  
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing atmosphere for all participants.  
  • Ensure the learning environment remains safe, organised, and developmentally appropriate.  
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and a sound understanding of privacy requirements. 
  • Builds authentic partnerships with families through a collaborative, respectful, and humble approach that honours each family’s unique knowledge, culture, and aspirations for their child. 
  • Openness to reflective practice, ongoing training, Montessori workshops, and continuous professional growth. 
  • The ability to assist with classroom set‑up, environmental maintenance, and preparation of materials. This is mentioned above so we could remove this one? 
  • Willingness to support school events, celebrations, and parent engagement activities. 
  • Strong communication, professionalism, and a commitment to modelling grace, courtesy, and peace education. 

What you bring: 

  • 0–3 Montessori Diploma (desirable) 
  • Prior experience in a 0–3 Montessori environment  
  • Current Positive Notice Blue Card (Working with Children Check) 
  • CPR Qualifications (HLTAID012 & HLTAID009) and Queensland Child Protection Training for Early Childhood Education and Care Certificate (or willing to obtain)
