About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Montessori Educator to lead our Parent & Child Program for families with children aged 0–3 years, while also providing Early Years lunch cover support within our early learning environment.
This unique role offers the opportunity to work closely with families, supporting parents and carers to participate alongside their child and gain firsthand experience of the Montessori philosophy in a nurturing and engaging environment. In addition, you will support our wider teaching team by providing lunch cover and maintaining continuity of care and learning for children throughout the day.
Based in a purpose-built learning space designed specifically for infants and toddlers, the Parent & Child Program operates during school terms and supports families in understanding and fostering their child’s early development.
As the Program Facilitator Guide, you will create and maintain a carefully prepared Montessori environment that encourages children’s natural curiosity, independence, and development. You will guide parents and carers in understanding Montessori principles while supporting children as they explore, move, touch, manipulate, and learn through their senses. During Early Years lunch cover periods, you will provide quality supervision and support within classrooms, ensuring children’s wellbeing, learning, and routines continue seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engaging Parent & Child sessions for children aged 0–3 years and their families.
- Prepare and maintain an authentic Montessori environment that supports early childhood development.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with parents and carers, providing guidance on Montessori principles and practices while fostering confidence, connection, and consistency between home and the BMS community.
- Observe and support each child’s individual developmental journey.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and nurturing atmosphere for all participants.
- Ensure learning environments remain safe, organised, and developmentally appropriate.
- Provide Early Years lunch cover across classrooms, supporting children during daily routines, transitions, meal times, and rest periods.
- Work collaboratively with educators to maintain continuity of care, supervision, and learning experiences during staff breaks.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold privacy requirements at all times.
- Build authentic partnerships with families through a collaborative, respectful, and humble approach that honours each family’s unique knowledge, culture, and aspirations for their child.
- Demonstrate openness to reflective practice, ongoing training, Montessori workshops, and continuous professional growth.
- Support classroom preparation, environmental maintenance, and the organisation of Montessori materials as required.
- Participate in school events, celebrations, and parent engagement activities.
- Model strong communication, professionalism, grace, courtesy, and peace education in all interactions.
