Description

The Royal Albert Hotel in Surry Hills and the Nags Head Hotel in Glebe are two iconic inner-city pubs known for their strong local communities, quality food and beverage offerings, and exceptional guest experiences.

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and capable Duty Manager to join our leadership team and play a key role in the day-to-day operation of both venues. Working closely with the General Managers, you’ll help drive service standards, support and develop team members, ensure compliance requirements are met, and contribute to creating memorable experiences for our guests.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, enjoys leading from the front, and takes pride in delivering outstanding service.

The successful candidate will work across both venues, averaging 2–3 shifts per week at each pub (up to 5 shifts per week total), offering variety, development opportunities, and exposure to two unique hospitality operations.

What you’ll do

  • Lead shifts and ensure smooth front-of-house operations.
  • Support, coach, and motivate the team to deliver excellent service.
  • Manage customer enquiries, complaints, and any operational issues professionally.
  • Oversee compliance, safety, and venue presentation standards.
  • Assist with stock control, cash handling, and daily close procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the management team to achieve venue goals.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or duty manager role in hospitality.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • A hands-on approach with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Sound understanding of RSA, compliance, and safe venue operations.
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Current RSA and RCG/competency cards, where required.

Why join us

  • Work in a respected venue with a strong community feel.
  • Be part of a supportive hospitality group with opportunities to grow.
  • Enjoy a varied role where no two shifts are the same.
  • Join a team that values initiative, reliability, and great service.
  • Please note that we are only contacting applicants with full time Australian working rights.
