We are partnering with Homes NSW, the NSW Government division which leads the delivery of public housing across NSW, to invite applications to join their Northern District in the role of Housing Operations Manager.

Lead Housing Services That Change Lives

This is a senior leadership opportunity to lead large frontline teams delivering critical housing and homelessness services to vulnerable communities across the region. You’ll play a key role in strengthening tenancy outcomes, improving service delivery, building team capability, and leading through a period of operational growth and change.

This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure human services environments and can confidently balance people leadership, operational performance, stakeholder engagement, and strategic thinking.

The Role

You’ll oversee the delivery of frontline housing services across:

  • Tenancy management
  • Housing applications and access services
  • Temporary accommodation responses
  • Homelessness and support pathways

Leading teams across the region, you will:

  • Drive sustainable tenancy outcomes and service quality
  • Strengthen culture, accountability, and workforce capability
  • Manage complex operational and stakeholder issues
  • Lead service improvement and operational reform initiatives
  • Build strong relationships across government, community housing, and homelessness sectors
  • Provide strategic advice on sensitive and high-risk matters

What They’re Really Looking For

The team needs a calm, proactive and resilient leader who can bring structure, accountability, and positive culture to a complex operational environment. Housing experience is highly regarded — however, strong leaders from broader human services environments are encouraged to apply.

The hiring team is open to candidates from areas such as:

  • Housing and homelessness
  • Community services
  • Child protection
  • Health and community care
  • Justice or corrections
  • Other complex government service delivery environments

The key is your ability to lead people, manage complexity, navigate vulnerable client environments, and drive operational outcomes.

About You

You are a confident senior leader with:

  • Experience leading large frontline or operational teams
  • Strong people leadership and coaching capability
  • Experience managing high-pressure service environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Sound judgement, resilience, and emotional intelligence
  • The ability to lead teams through change and reform

Why Join Homes NSW?

This is an opportunity to make a genuine impact in communities experiencing significant housing demand and vulnerability, while shaping the future of frontline housing services in the region.

You’ll join a supportive senior leadership team focused on improving outcomes for vulnerable people and building stronger, more accountable services across the district. If you’re a strategic and operational leader who can lead through complexity while keeping people at the centre of service delivery — we’d love to hear from you.
