About WorkVentures
WorkVentures has a rich 40+ year history of driving social impact. Building on this legacy, WorkVentures Cyber secures the Not-for-Profit (NFP) sector to power social impact. We identify common security gaps in the sector and offer affordable, tailored, risk-based cyber assessments and managed services aligned to industry standards to improve resilience and compliance for for-purpose organisations.
We also deeply acknowledge the serious and pervasive impact of domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV), including technology-facilitated abuse (TFA). We believe ethical, for-purpose cyber security practice plays a vital role in prevention, safety and recovery, working to improve digital safety for at-risk communities.
About the Role
We are seeking a Cyber Security Lead Consultant to lead the delivery, quality and evolution of our for-purpose cyber security services. As the senior practitioner across our growing cyber portfolio, you will independently lead client engagements to materially improve cyber resilience, governance and operational safety for community organisations.
This multifaceted role goes beyond traditional consulting. You will directly contribute to grant acquisition, lead sector advocacy initiatives (particularly relating to TFA and digital safety) and drive workforce development by designing and delivering cyber cadet programs for the next generation of professionals.
Key Responsibilities
Client Delivery & GRC: Lead end-to-end cyber assessments, workshops and findings reports benchmarked against NIST CSF, Essential Eight and compliance obligations (such as SMB1001). Translate these into structured 12-month cyber uplift roadmaps and deliver pragmatic, risk-based programs tailored to resource-constrained NFP environments.
-
Service Delivery Across the Portfolio: Oversee and deliver client engagements spanning Cyber Advisory & Strategy, Third-Party Risk Management, Incident Response Readiness, Cybersecurity Audits, Penetration Testing, Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR/XDR) and Human Risk & Awareness Training.
-
Team Leadership & Mentoring: Manage, mentor and role model a dedicated team of junior consultants and cadets. Lead daily stand-ups, conduct quarterly performance reviews, and integrate cadets into supervised client delivery to foster a collaborative, inclusive and high-performance culture.
-
Specialist Programs & TFA Prevention: Deliver specialist, grant-funded TFA prevention programs, tools and workshops. Design playbooks and training resources using trauma-informed, culturally safe and victim-centred approaches.
-
Business Development & Grants: Support sales and funder meetings, scope technical requirements for tailored proposals, and lead or contribute to grant applications for cybersecurity, TFA and workforce development initiatives.
-
Portfolio & System Enhancement: Own and continuously improve WorkVentures’ cyber delivery methodology, templates and assets to ensure scalability and quality.
-
Thought Leadership: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the NFP cyber threat landscape, contributing to sector briefings, webinars and evidence-based input for government and peak bodies.
What You Bring
- 5–7 years of experience in cyber security, information security or technology risk.
- Proven client-facing experience in a consulting or equivalent role.
- Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring or managing a team.
- Experience contributing to or delivering grant-funded or regulated programs is highly desirable.
- Experience designing or delivering workforce development or cadet pathway programs is desirable.
- Professionalism, care and sensitivity when handling complex, high-risk environments and sensitive information.
