Birdsnest is looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Product Developer/Production Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves fashion, product development, and bringing products to life from concept design through to production.
The role is based in Cooma NSW and for someone in the area or willing to move to the area, we can build the role around your skills, experience and passions.
Candidates with previous garment production or apparel industry experience will be highly regarded however recent graduates in fashion design or product development are still encouraged to apply.

We’re looking for a passionate Product Developer and Production Coordinator to join the team.
This role is perfect for someone with garment production experience looking to grow within a fast-paced fashion environment and we are also very willing to mentor a recent graduate ready to launch their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the end-to-end product development process from concept to production
- Prepare detailed technical packs and garment specifications for onshore and offshore suppliers
- Managing samples, fit sessions and approvals, and quality control processes
- Coordinating with local and international suppliers and internal teams
- Maintaining product information, production records, and administrative processes
- Assisting with range coordination, photoshoots, and sample organisation
- Liaising with suppliers on ex-factory dates and production readiness.
- Management of communication with freight forwarders to track shipments and resolve customs or delivery issues.
- Processing supplier and freight invoices with high accuracy.
- Leading seasonal setups and critical path tracking.
- Reporting on freight costs and landed expenses post-arrival.
- Negotiate quality concerns, production issues, supplier discounts and corrective actions
- Maintain supplier communications regarding production status, approvals and delivery expectations
Who We’re Looking For
- Tertiary qualifications in Fashion, Textiles, or a related field
- Strong interest in product development, garment construction, textiles, and apparel production
- Sound technical understanding of fit, fabrication, pattern making, print, and quality standards
- Confidence working across multiple areas including design support, production coordination, administration, and logistics
- Ability to communicate clearly with both local and offshore suppliers, including China and India
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to take on different tasks and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and ability to work autonomously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new systems and technologies
- A proactive, curious mindset with a genuine eagerness to learn and grow within the industry
