About the opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join a growing, design focused team based in our Sydney office, delivering large, technically complex projects across Australia and the Asia-Pacific.

You’ll work on high value commercial developments, often $250M+, spanning commercial, education, health and advanced data and digital infrastructure. The role offers end to end ownership of mechanical design, from concept through to construction support, with a strong focus on technical leadership and quality outcomes.

You’ll engage directly with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to key project decisions and delivering robust, buildable solutions. The role also offers exposure to high performance and data driven environments, including energy optimisation, analytics and operational efficiency initiatives.

You can expect to:

  • Deliver complex mechanical building services designs from concept through to construction support
  • Take ownership of mechanical design packages, ensuring quality, coordination and compliance
  • Provide technical input and guidance across HVAC system selection, calculations and plant sizing
  • Act as a key technical and client-facing contact, attending meetings and providing clear engineering advice
  • Support the work of other engineers, contributing to technical assurance and mentoring
  • Work across a range of large, complex projects, including high‑performance and technically demanding environments
  • Contribute to performance-driven design outcomes, including energy efficiency and optimisation initiatives where applicable
  • Support continuous improvement of design processes, standards and delivery approaches within the team

What you’ll bring

Essential:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
  • Engineers Australia, Professional Member (MIE Aust)
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in mechanical building services engineering, ideally within a construction or contracting environment
  • Proven track record delivering medium to large scale projects, across sectors such as commercial, education or health
  • Solid involvement across the full design lifecycle, from concept design through to documentation and construction support
  • Demonstrated ability to own mechanical design packages, including coordinating inputs and providing technical direction
  • Strong HVAC design capability, covering system selection, load calculations and plant sizing
  • Sound working knowledge of Australian Standards and NCC requirements, and confidence applying them to complex projects
  • Experience with industry standard design and documentation tools (such as Revit, CAMEL or similar)
  • Australian citizenship required, with a current AGSVA Security Clearance or willingness to obtain one

Desirable:

  • Experience on data centre, high performance or mission critical projects
  • Exposure to operational buildings, refurbishment works or performance improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with building performance initiatives such as NABERS, energy modelling or BMS optimisation
  • Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heating, Member (M.AIRAH)
