We are seeking a Youth Community Development Worker to join our Families, Children, Youth and
Community team. This is a part-time opportunity (23 hours per week), offered as a 12-month maximum term role (parental leave coverage), supporting the delivery of youth programs across the Blue Mountains.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working alongside young people and
communities to create safe, inclusive and engaging programs that strengthen wellbeing, participation and connection.
About the Role
As part of the Families, Children, Youth and Community team, you will support the delivery of youth engagement and community development programs aligned with Belong Blue Mountains strategic priorities and funded initiatives, including the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and Community and Family Support (CAFS) programs.
This is a hands-on role combining program delivery, community engagement, outreach and
partnership development. You will work directly with young people, families, schools and community stakeholders to support meaningful participation and positive community outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver youth-focused programs, activities and community initiatives.
- Facilitate safe, inclusive and engaging group activities and events.
- Build positive relationships with young people, families and community stakeholders.
- Support community outreach and promote programs across the local area.
- Engage with young people to reduce barriers to participation and inclusion.
- Participate in community networks and collaborative partnerships.
- Provide information, support and referrals to community services where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate participant records and contribute to reporting requirements.
- Support continuous improvement and program evaluation activities.

Essential Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Development, Youth Work, Social Work or
related discipline, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated Experience in Community Program Delivery and Youth Engagement.
- Proven ability to plan, implement, and evaluate youth-focused programs within a
community setting, with a focus on inclusivity and cultural sensitivity.
- Familiarity with funding applications, reporting processes, and adherence to organisational
and government policies related to community and youth services.
- Experience working with diverse cultural communities, especially within Indigenous or
multicultural contexts.
- Strong networking and partnership-building skills across government, education and
community organisations.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, including reporting and data
management.
- Proficiency in using client record management systems (e.g., OSCAR, CRM) and social media
platforms for program promotion.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Current NSW driver licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- First Aid or other relevant safety training.
