Description

Banton Group is seeking a diligent and ambitious Senior Legal Secretary to join their Sydney office, with a strong focus on complex litigation, class action, and dispute resolution matters. The successful candidate will support the Managing Partner and team,  working on high-profile cases both domestically, particularly in the Supreme and Federal Courts, and internationally.

To succeed in the Senior Legal Assistant role, you will ideally have experience in the following:

  • Hyperlinking and redacting documents
  • Assisting with the month-end billing process, including requesting invoices from barristers and other third-party suppliers, and prompting lawyers to review and edit bills to meet end-of-month deadlines
  • Conducting ASIC searches
  • Requesting transcripts and court orders
  • Filing documents in the Supreme Courts (NSW and VIC) and the Federal Court
  • Handling payments for filing, transcripts, and court orders
  • Generating reports in Actionstep, including WIP and pivot per fee earner
  • Preparing requisition forms as needed
  • Collating exhibits and briefs
  • Organising and maintaining documents in both paper and electronic filing systems, as well as in legal document management systems
  • Assisting in the preparation of briefs, pleadings, and other legal documents
  • Managing external printing requests and photocopying
  • Conducting public records and company searches, including ASIC searches
  • Filing pleadings and court documents using electronic filing
  • Managing document review, searches, and hyperlinking materials
  • Investigating facts and preparing chronologies
  • Preparing witness bundles using electronic searches
  • Drafting affidavits, legal correspondence, and other documents for lawyers
  • Coordinating the delivery of subpoenas
  • Helping prepare for motions and trials by organizing court books and tender bundles, and assisting with other tasks as needed
  • Meeting with clients, lawyers, and other professionals to discuss case details
  • Conducting legal research and analysing statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, and documents
  • Assisting in court presentations using electronic tender bundles where required
  • Handling administrative tasks as directed
  • Preparing lists of authorities
  • Drafting letters of compromise
