About BackTrack
BackTrack is an Armidale-based not-for-profit that supports young people from
disadvantaged backgrounds to get back on track. Through hands-on learning, work
skills, safe accommodation and a strong sense of belonging, we help young
people build the skills, confidence and connections for a future they’re proud
of. Behind every young person we support is a busy, hardworking team — and a
front desk that keeps it all running.
About the role
This is a front-of-house role at heart. Based at our Armidale site, you’ll be the
welcoming first point of contact for visitors, callers and enquiries, and the
person who keeps reception and day-to-day site administration running smoothly
and professionally.
Front-of-house and Armidale site support is your primary focus. As a secondary part of the
role — and as your time allows — you’ll also provide practical administrative
support to other BackTrack teams, programs and sites. It’s a genuinely varied
role for someone who enjoys being the reliable, organised heart of a busy
workplace.
We’re open to filling this position as one full-time role, or as a job share between
two well-aligned part-timers. If that’s you and a colleague, apply together and
tell us how you’d make it work.
What you’ll do
•Be the welcoming first point of contact — greeting visitors, managing sign-in, answering
enquiries and connecting people with the right person
•Keep reception and shared spaces clean, safe and well-presented, and keep office, kitchen and
cleaning supplies stocked
•Provide practical support for meetings, tours and visits, including room readiness, catering
coordination and visitor information packs
•Handle everyday administration — mail, banking, the shared inbox, phone enquiries and message
distribution
•Monitor facilities and report maintenance issues so the site runs smoothly and safely
•Support fleet administration (fuel cards, vehicle bookings, registrations and servicing) and
track safety equipment and WHS actions
•Help coordinate events, travel, bookings and organisational assets such as uniforms and
merchandise
•As capacity allows, provide administrative support to other BackTrack teams and programs
About you
You’re enthusiastic, highly organised and genuinely enjoy helping people. You can
pivot quickly, juggle multiple tasks and take the unexpected in your stride —
using initiative and thinking on your feet to keep the day moving. You’re
practical but personable, with loads of patience and a calm, steady manner.
Just as importantly, you’ll be in contact with our young people every day. We’re
building capability in the young people we support, which takes both warmth and
consistency. You’ll be caring and supportive while holding clear, agreed
expectations, offering calm direction that helps them grow in confidence.
Essential
•A genuine commitment to supporting young people, with the ability to build rapport while
holding clear and consistent expectations

•Demonstrated administrative and computer skills, including Microsoft Office
•A current Australian driver’s licence, preferably manual, held from commencement (the
role includes collecting the mail daily)
•A National Criminal Record Check
•A current Working with Children Check (and ongoing validity)
Desirable
•Previous
experience in reception, administration or customer-facing support
•Experience in a
community services, not-for-profit or site-based environment
•Familiarity with
coordinating bookings, supplies, records or basic operational administration
