The Opportunity 

Join BABYBOO as our Senior Merchandise Planner – Product & Newness, a pivotal role at the intersection of planning, product and commercial strategy. Reporting to the Head of Product, you’ll own option planning, newness Open to Buy (OTB) and initial buying, driving the forward product calendar and ensuring our product pipeline aligns with business goals. Working closely with our Sydney-based and UK-based design, production and marketing teams, you’ll build and lead a dedicated newness planning capability, shaping the future of our product offering and delivering commercially successful ranges. 


You will 

  • Lead seasonal option planning and range architecture, determining category mix, option counts, price points and customer-led assortment strategies.
  • Own the Newness Open to Buy (OTB) process, translating product strategies into commercially driven investment plans.
  • Manage initial buy decisions, including depth, width, size curves and inventory allocations for all new collections.
  • Use data and insights to drive planning decisions, leveraging historical sales, customer behaviour and performance trends to optimise product investments.
  • Develop and execute drop strategies, forecasting demand, planning inventory requirements and aligning stock levels with campaign objectives.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Design, Marketing and Production teams to ensure product plans are commercially viable and customer-focused.
  • Build planning frameworks for new category launches, including demand forecasting, financial modelling, inventory strategy and success metrics.
  • Deliver reporting, performance analysis and commercial insights, identifying opportunities, improving future ranges and supporting global planning alignment.


You are

  • Experience in merchandise planning, buying or a planning/buying hybrid role, must have fashion eCommerce industry experience 
  • Strong option planning and range architecture capability — you understand how a range is built commercially
  • Buying experience — comfortable with initial buy decisions, size curves and newness planning
  • Experience in Direct to Consumer (DTC), drop-led or fast-fashion product businesses preferred
  • Advanced Excel and detailed analytical capability
  • Strong collaborator with design, production and marketing teams
  • Intellectually curious about product, customer and trend — you see product as well as numbers
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
