Description

At aXcelerate, we build software that supports training organisations across Australia and beyond. Our platform plays a critical role in helping customers manage compliance, training delivery, and business operations.

We’re continuing to invest in our engineering foundations—and that’s where this role comes in.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Software Engineer (Platform) to help build and evolve the internal platform that underpins our product and enables our teams to deliver reliably at scale.

You’ll have the opportunity to support our adoption of AI-enabled tooling, helping us apply AI in a practical and responsible way.

This is a mid-level role suited to someone who enjoys hands-on development while improving the systems around it. You’ll work across TypeScript applications, AWS infrastructure, and platform tooling, contributing to better automation, observability, and developer experience.

What you will be doing

  • Contribute to AI-enabled tools and explore practical use cases
  • Develop and maintain scalable cloud-based applications using TypeScript
  • Own features and services through the full development lifecycle
  • Contribute to internal platform capabilities across infrastructure, automation, and observability
  • Work with AWS to build and support cloud-native solutions
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across development and production environments
  • Identify and implement improvements to system performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes

About you

  • 2–4 years’ experience in software engineering, cloud engineering, or platform/DevOps roles
  • Experience in AI technologies (e.g. OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, prompt engineering)
  • Experience with TypeScript or similar (JavaScript/Node.js)
  • Experience working with AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g. Terraform, CDK)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
  • Clear and effective communication skills

Nice to have

  • Experience with Docker and container-based deployments (ECS, Fargate)
  • Familiarity with observability tools (e.g. Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages
  • Understanding of microservices and distributed systems
  • Background in platform or DevOps teams

What we offer

  • Hybrid working environment (3 days in the office)
  • A central location, close to public transport, cafes and shops, with free on-site parking available.
  • A vibrant, supportive and team-oriented culture, with regular team activities and social events.
  • Opportunities for flexible and hybrid working.
  • A focus on professional development and learning, with access to our LMS, external and internal training opportunities and your own personal annual PD budget.
  • Access for you and your family to an Employee Assistance Program and resources.
  • Cashback offers and discounts on popular brands through our Employment Hero app.
  • Discounted gym membership and Pilates Class offers to support your health and wellbeing.
  • Opportunities for career development with well defined career pathways across the business.
  • Proud members of Women in Technology with access to networking events, professional development opportunities and resources.
