Role Overview
We are seeking an Apprentice Communications Technician to undertake a Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology (ICT30524) while gaining practical, hands-on experience across RF and communications systems.This is a structured 36-month apprenticeship combining formal training with on-the-job experience. The apprentice will support installation, integration, testing and maintenance activities across communications systems under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Support ground segment projects in the field as the primary function of the role
- Assist with technical tasks in the workshop and office to support engineering and delivery teams as required
- Support installation, integration and basic testing of communications and RF systems
- Maintain the workshop, including organisation of tools, equipment and stores
- Prepare and manage deployable kits to ensure readiness for field activities
- Take accountability for maintaining a clean, organised and functional workspace
- Use appropriate tools and equipment safely and effectively under supervision
- Attend all required training courses and complete associated coursework as part of the apprenticeship program
- Follow structured training plan while proactively building skills and knowledge in the workplace
- Support field work activities including site installations, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks
- Adhere to all safety, quality and operational standards procedures and policies
Training & Qualification
- Qualification: Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology (ICT30524)
- Apprenticeship Term: 36 months (nominal)
- Delivered via a registered training organisation (RTO) alongside on-the-job training
Technical Skills
- Completion of Year 10 or equivalent (Year 12 preferred)
- Interest in electronics, communications or telecommunications systems
- Basic understanding of maths and physics principles (desirable)
- Willingness to learn and commit to a structured training program
- Current driver’s licence (or ability to obtain) preferred

- Must be an Australian Citizen with ability to apply for a Baseline Australian Government Security Vetting Agency security clearance
- Logical and methodical problem solver able to prioritise work effectively
