The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Strategic Engagement and Performance team at Austroads. In this role, you will lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects that support national transport outcomes across Australia and New Zealand.

You will play a pivotal role in translating strategic priorities into tangible outcomes, driving collaboration across internal teams, member agencies and external partners, and ensuring projects are delivered in line with our Project Management Framework.

Responsibilities

This exciting role will involve the following:

• Manage and deliver multiple concurrent projects across varying levels of complexity.

• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource requirements.

• Develop project documentation including business cases, project plans, governance reporting, budgets and forecasts.

• Monitor and report on project progress, including risks, issues, budgets, and timelines.

• Manage stakeholders across government, industry, and consultancy partners.

• Oversee procurement processes and manage external consultants and service providers.

• Lead project governance activities including steering committees and control groups.

• Contribute to continuous improvement and organisational performance initiatives.

• Provide guidance and leadership to support staff including a Project Coordinator.

About you

The successful candidate will possess:

• Significant experience in managing complex projects and delivering outcomes within structured governance frameworks.

• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies and frameworks.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholders, and competing deadlines.

• Experience working with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and service providers.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences.

• Experience in preparing reports and other written artefacts.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.

• Highly developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management (desirable).
