Exciting opportunity to join AVI’s Pacific Team! We’re currently looking for Program Coordinator for our Fiji & Tuvalu office.
AVI supports the implementation of the Australian Volunteers Program on behalf of the Australian Government. The Australian Volunteers Program supports skilled Australian volunteers to work alongside organisations to sustainably support capacity development of people, organisations and communities in various countries across the Pacific, Asia and Africa.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the remote coordination and management of
the Australian Volunteers Program (AVP) across the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI), and the Republic of Palau (Palau). The role leads day-to-day program operations, supports partner organisations, oversees the volunteer lifecycle, and ensures the safety, wellbeing and effective management of program participants.
Given the remote management model, the role coordinates country-based contractors and works closely with DFAT Posts, Melbourne-based teams, and partner organisations to ensure high-quality and responsive program delivery.
Position Requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in a similar role
- Demonstrated experience of remotely managing programs or teams across
multiple geographies.
- Strong administrative and financial management skills
- Proven ability to manage volunteer or personnel welfare, including pastoral care.
- High-level judgement, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in program planning, risk management, MEL and incident management.
- Strong understanding of North Pacific cultural, political and social contexts.
- Experience working with DFAT international development programs or multi-lateral organisations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Cross-cultural awareness, including an ability to work with stakeholders from varied cultural backgrounds
- Sound knowledge of, and commitment to the underpinning values, goals and objectives of the Australian Volunteers Program
