The Opportunity

The Project Officer – Accreditation Standards supports the review and development of nursing and midwifery accreditation standards, frameworks and related guidance materials. Reporting to the Director of Policy and Research, the role combines project coordination with specialist nursing or midwifery expertise to ensure standards development is rigorous, evidence‑based and informed by meaningful stakeholder engagement.

The role manages defined project workstreams with a level of independence and works collaboratively across Anmac to support high‑quality outcomes that align with regulatory requirements and organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Standards Review & Development

    • Coordinate end-to-end review and development of professional standards and accreditation frameworks for nursing and midwifery programs of study leading to registration or endorsement.

    • Conduct environmental scans, literature reviews and consultation activities to inform standards development.

    • Draft standards documents, consultation papers and guidance materials to organisational quality standards.

    • Liaise with the NMBA on matters pertaining to Accreditation Standards Review and policy changes relevant to accreditation standards and alert the team to emerging issues.

2. Project Coordination

    • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and status reports for standards review workstreams, ensuring activities are delivered in line with agreed timelines.

    • Coordinate working groups, reference panels and expert advisory groups- including preparation of agendas, papers and minutes.

    • Track milestones and deliverables, monitor progress against deadlines, identify risks and escalate issues in a timely manner.

    • Maintain accurate project records and document management systems to support timely reporting and accountability.

3. Stakeholder Engagement

    • Engage with education providers, professional associations, regulators and subject matter experts.

    • Facilitate consultation processes including surveys, focus groups and written submission processes.

    • Prepare briefing papers, correspondence and meeting materials for stakeholder activities.

    • Collaborate closely with the Policy & Research team, other business units, and Corporate Services at ANMAC to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach.

4. Research & Analysis

    • Research national and international best practice to support evidence-informed standards development.

    • Analyse stakeholder feedback and consultation responses; prepare clear summary reports.

    • Contribute to reports, position papers and other outputs for the Business Unit.

About You

You are a well‑organised and detail‑focused professional with experience coordinating projects in a health, education or regulatory environment. You bring strong research and writing skills, can manage multiple priorities, and work confidently with diverse stakeholders. You value collaboration, integrity and evidence‑based practice, and are motivated by contributing to high‑quality standards that support public safety and workforce outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Current or recent registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the NMBA.
  • Tertiary qualifications in nursing, midwifery or health sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, preferably within a health, education or regulatory setting.
  • Ability to share information with the Director and others in a timely and professional way.
  • Ability to research, synthesise information and produce clear written outputs.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.

Desirable:

  • Experience with professional and accreditation standards, accreditation frameworks or regulatory processes in health.
  • Familiarity with consultation and co-design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Australia’s National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS).
