ABOUT THE ROLE – Cheltenham, VIC | Full-Time | Ongoing

We’re looking for a driven and open-minded Event Coordinator to join our AGS Events Team and play a key role in delivering a diverse calendar of golf events across Victoria.

Working closely with the Victorian Event Manager as well as venues, players, volunteers and stakeholders, this role is responsible for delivering exceptional event experiences through the end-to-end execution of golf events, including stakeholder and venue management, staff and volunteer coordination, event functions, player services, signage, budgeting and reporting.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to build a career in sport and event management, gaining hands on experience across all aspects of event delivery while inspiring more people to play golf. This role is primarily dedicated to the Victorian amateur events program, with great opportunities to also support the broader team that delivers major tournaments like the Australian Open and PGA/WPGA Championships.

 

Your impact:

End-to-end delivery of Golf Australia amateur events in Victoria

  • Successful end-to-end event delivery ensuring they are delivered to the highest standard in line with AGS delivery levels, resulting in positive participant, host venue, volunteer and spectator experiences. Primary focus on TeeMates (GA’s national junior entry level event program) and other junior events.
  • Execution of specific tasks to ensure successful event delivery include; host venue liaison, development of terms of competition, managing entries, draws, logistics, results, prizes, presentations and player satisfaction surveys.
  • Delivering events within budget and completing event financial reconciliations.
  • Basic marketing and promotion of events including up to date website information and promotion via social media, EDMs and other channels.

Assisting in the delivery of Australian Golf’s ‘Majors’

  • Assisting the Australian Open and/or Australian PGA/WPGA teams in the delivery of the men’s and or women’s Australian Opens and or the Australian PGA or WPGA Championships, including areas such as volunteer servicing, player services, commercial or participation activations, accreditation and event functions.

Tour Event Assistance

  • Assisting in the delivery of the PGA and WPGA Tour events such as the Vic Open and Webex Player Series Events including areas such as volunteer servicing, general operations, commercial or participation activations, and event functions. 

You’ll Bring

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused approach to service delivery
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while responding to priorities with urgency
  • Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions individually and with a team
  • Exhibiting self-motivation and a commitment to finding innovative ways to achieve outcomes
  • Ability to identify and manage event-related risks, including effectively navigating stakeholder relationships and challenging situations
  • Ability to meet deadlines, commitments and competing demands without compromising standards of service and quality
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive, proactive, and solutions-focused approach to work
  • Strong understanding of golf (desirable but not essential)

 

Availability to spend considerable time at tournaments/events throughout metropolitan Melbourne, regional Victoria and interstate, and the ability to work non-traditional hours.
