Description

As a Researcher, you will play a crucial role in synthesising evidence and information to provide policymakers and schools with reliable, evidence-based advice that is accessible, easy to understand, and readily implemented in practice.

  • Offering a competitive base salary starting at $97,920 (commensurate with skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation 
  • Full time, temporary contract until 29 January 2027  
  • Flexible location, work from home (Australia-wide)

Purpose of the role  

This role contributes to the development, translation, and dissemination of high-quality education research and policy analysis, as well as the refinement of quality standards for educational materials. It includes stakeholder engagement and preparation of written and multimedia materials that are accessible, easy to understand, and readily implemented by schools and policymakers.  

Accountabilities:  

  • Contribute to the scoping, planning and designing of education research projects aligned to AERO’s annual research agenda.  
  • Undertake data collection and analysis on multiple education research projects in collaboration with other AERO researchers using rigorous qualitative and/or quantitative methods.  
  • Develop research products that support education practitioners working in schools and early childhood services to use more evidence-based practices. 
  • Plan and implement dissemination activities that maximise the impact of AERO research products on the Australian education community.  
  • Support collaborations with external stakeholders to ensure research projects and products are high quality and have high impact.  
  • Provide a range of administrative activities, including coordinating research project governance and supporting stakeholder engagement as well as research product development and implementation. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience  

Essential requirements:  

  • Research qualifications in education, social sciences, data science, or another relevant discipline.  
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to translate complex information for different audiences 

Key knowledge and experience:  

  • Technical proficiency in excel and survey platforms (e.g. REDCap or similar).
  • Experience as an educator or teacher in school settings or strong knowledge of these contexts. 
  • Experience with quality assurance or quality standards processes would be beneficial, but not essential. 
  • Experience in adult learning, training or professional development would be advantageous.
