The Australian Dental Association Victorian Branch (ADAVB)
is the professional association of Victorian dentists. With the stated aim of
improving the dental health of all Victorians, ADAVB promotes the highest
standards of professional dental care that enhances the professional lives of
the members.
The Finance Officer supports financial stability and
sustainability of the ADAVB. The role supports decision-making across member
services by enabling clear reporting, compliance and effective resource
allocation.
About the Role
We are seeking a capable and detail-oriented Finance Officer
to manage day-to-day financial operations and support broader financial
management activities. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the
General Manager (and potentially the CEO) in a role that offers both
operational responsibility and involvement in budgeting and reporting
processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing for membership, events, and training programs
- Process and reconcile membership fees (members and non-members)
- Support revenue tracking across partnerships, sponsorships, and events
- Administer payroll for approximately 28 staff (including casuals), ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end financial processes
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis tasks
- Prepare financial reports for management and board-level review
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with reporting standards
- Assist with audit preparation and liaise with external auditors as required
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, processes, and controls
About You
You are an organised and motivated finance professional who enjoys working in a collaborative and purpose-driven environment.
You will bring:
- Experience in a similar Finance Officer or Accounts role (ideally within NFP or membership-based organisations)
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and payroll processing
- Experience with multiple revenue streams (e.g., membership, events, sponsorships)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
- Proficiency with accounting software (Xero), as well as Employment Hero
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-finance stakeholders
- A proactive mindset and willingness to contribute to budgeting and planning processes
Desirable:
- Exposure to NFP reporting requirements
- Experience supporting budgeting or financial planning processes
