About the Role:
Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of Defence projects, we are seeking suitably cleared and experienced Network Engineers, or individuals eligible to obtain a security clearance, to support
the design, sustainment and enhancement of networked ICT environments.
This role will focus on maintaining and improving both connected and standalone systems across Defence environments. You will undertake tasks such as but not limited to:
- Designing, configuring and maintaining network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls and LAN environments.
- Supporting Linux and Windows Server environments, including virtual machines, Active Directory and file services.
- Sustaining standalone and disconnected systems, including patching, updates and system health checks.
- Performing hardware and system maintenance, including firmware updates, component replacement and lifecycle management.
- Supporting backup and recovery processes to ensure system availability and data integrity.
- Monitoring and troubleshooting network and system performance across integrated environments.
- Implementing Configuration as Code approaches, particularly using Ansible, to support consistent and repeatable configurations.
- Providing technical support and resolving incidents to restore systems to operational states.
- Collaborating with engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions and support delivery outcomes.
- As part of the Engineering team, you will contribute to planning, technical reviews and continuous improvement activities aligned to Defence delivery environments.
What We Are Looking For:
- Must be an Australian Citizen holding or able to obtain a minimum NV2 Security Clearance.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Network Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise or mission-critical ICT environments.
- Strong network engineering experience, including configuring and managing switches, routers, and firewalls, plus administration of Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian) and Windows Server (2019/2022)
environments.
- Experience supporting standalone or air-gapped systems within constrained environments.
- Hands-on experience with Configuration as Code and automation tools, particularly Ansible.
- Experience maintaining server and network hardware, including firmware updates, component replacement and general lifecycle management.
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure virtual infrastructure (IaaS), including
networking and virtual machine deployment and management.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to support and mentor junior engineers where required.
- Experience in Defence or similar environments, with an understanding of security and accreditation processes, and relevant industry certifications are desirable.
