Finance Officer – Accounts Payable, Receivable & Payroll Support

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Officer to join our Finance team and play a critical role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly. The Opportunity
This is a hands-on finance role responsible for managing day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, while also providing support across reconciliations, finance administration, and payroll backup functions.
You’ll work closely with the Finance Manager and broader team to ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, on time, and in line with APNA’s policies and controls. You’ll also contribute to improving finance processes, maintaining strong audit trails, and supporting business continuity across the finance function.
What You’ll Be Doing
Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices accurately and on time.
- Match invoices with approvals and supporting documentation.
- Prepare payment runs and ensure appropriate authorisations are obtained.
- Respond to supplier enquiries professionally and promptly.
- Maintain supplier records and documentation.
- Identify and escalate discrepancies, duplicate invoices, or unusual transactions.
- Support continuous improvement of accounts payable processes.
Accounts Receivable
- Raise invoices for members, customers, and programs.
- Allocate and receipt incoming payments.
- Assist with debtor management and follow-up of outstanding invoices.
- Support reconciliations and resolution of account discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate customer records.
- Contribute to healthy cashflow through timely processing and follow-up.
Reconciliations & Finance Administration
- Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Process finance data entry and transaction records.
- Maintain organised financial records and documentation.
- Support month-end and audit activities.
- Ensure finance files, processes, and records remain accurate and up to date.
Payroll Support
- Provide payroll backup support as required.
- Assist with payroll administration and reconciliations.
- Participate in cross-training across finance functions.
- Help ensure continuity of service during leave periods and peak workloads.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is organised, collaborative, and enjoys working with detail.
You will ideally bring:
- Previous experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, finance administration, or a similar finance role.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Experience working with finance systems and Microsoft Excel.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service mindset.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
- Understanding of payroll processes (or willingness to learn).
- Relevant finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or business qualifications (desirable).
