Sydney Building Management & Projects (SBMP) provides facilities management services to premium residential buildings across greater Sydney. We’re offering an exciting opportunity for a reliable and motivated individual to step into a Trainee Building Manager role, an ideal entry point for anyone looking to build a long-term career in property and facilities management.

About the Role:

As a Trainee Building Manager, you will take responsibility for managing your own residential site or small portfolio from day one. You’ll be supported through structured training, direct oversight from a Senior Building Manager, and ongoing professional development.

This role is highly customer-focused, involving daily interaction with residents, strata committees, and contractors. You will be responsible for handling queries, managing requests, resolving complaints, and providing clear and timely updates.

Your role will involve day-to-day operations, contractor coordination, maintenance oversight, and resident communication, giving you hands-on experience and the skills needed to advance into a Building Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily building operations under the guidance of a Senior Manager, with increasing autonomy as your skills develop.
  • Act as the primary contact for residents, responding to queries, managing expectations, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide regular updates to residents and stakeholders on maintenance works and building matters.
  • Conduct routine site inspections to maintain cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards.
  • Coordinate and follow up on maintenance tasks, liaise with contractors, and ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and building-specific procedures.
  • Maintain site records, complete checklists, and support monthly reporting requirements.

  • Strong customer service skills are essential. You must be confident managing daily interactions, resolving complaints, and communicating clearly with a wide range of people.
  • Calm, professional, and solutions-focused when dealing with difficult situations.
  • Reliable, efficient, and proactive, with strong attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently while following guidance from senior managers.
  • Motivated to grow into a full Building Manager role.

Requirements:

  • 2 years’ experience in a customer service role, including handling queries, complaints, and escalations.
  • 2 years’ experience in works coordination, facilities, property, or hospitality (preferred).
  • Full working rights in Australia.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills with a willingness to learn new systems.
  • Australian driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Construction White Card and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to travel between sites across Sydney

What We Offer:

  • Salary: $75k – $85k per annum + Super (dependent on experience).
  • Typical Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM. (Dependant on portfolio)
