The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, full-time Head of People & Culture to join our Executive Leadership Team based at Kemps Creek.
This is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and delivering our people strategy, while also supporting day-to-day operations across a diverse and distributed workforce including work health and safety and payroll oversight. You will partner closely with the CEO, Board and senior leaders to drive culture, capability and performance across the organisation.
This role also provides leadership and support across our branches, volunteer workforce and regional hubs, ensuring consistency, engagement and alignment across AWL NSW.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver the People & Culture strategy aligned to organisational goals
- Partner with the CEO, Board and ELT as a trusted advisor
- Drive organisational development, culture and engagement initiatives
- Lead workforce planning, talent management and leadership capability
- Oversee employee relations, performance management and compliance
- Support and optimise HR systems, processes and reporting
- Provide people leadership across branches, volunteers and regional hubs
- Strengthen engagement, communication and capability across a distributed workforce
- Oversee WHS, wellbeing and psychosocial risk initiatives
- Lead and develop the People & Culture function
About You
- 8–10+ years’ experience in Human Resources, Organisational Development or a related field, including 3–5+ years in a senior or strategic leadership role
- Proven success in developing and implementing people strategies that enhance organisational performance, culture and engagement
- Strong experience across performance management, talent acquisition, learning & development and reward frameworks
- Demonstrated experience driving culture change and organisational transformation
- Expertise in employee relations, including managing complex matters while ensuring compliance with employment legislation
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, Psychology or similar
- AHRI membership (CPHR) or certifications in change management or coaching (desirable)

- The ability to influence, present to Boards and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills across all levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence in handling sensitive matters with fairness, empathy and professionalism
- A data-informed approach, using insights and analytics to drive outcomes
- Experience across recruitment, succession planning, leadership development and career pathways
- Familiarity with HRIS and cloud-based systems
- A high level of empathy and the ability to build strong, trusted relationships
