Description

Do you know how to take a proposal from functional to genuinely compelling, the kind that gets noticed before a word is even read? Are you someone who can move fluidly between a submissions deadline, a client-facing visual brief, and a signage concept and make each one land?

If that sounds like your kind of work, Amicus could be your next great move.

This role can be based in either our Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane office – we are looking for someone who shares our values of teamwork, accountability and positivity. You’ll bring strong design eye and the ability to make complex information look effortless. We’ll bring a 9-day fortnight, supportive leaders and a genuinely great culture.

About Amicus

Amicus is an award-winning employer with offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Established in 2005, we began with a focus on design and fit out for the Office, Laboratory, Education and Hospitality sectors. Today, our offering spans workplace design and construction, alongside expertise in strategy, culture, leadership, technology and finance.

We look for people who combine strong technical capability with curiosity, humility and a desire to keep improving, both individually and collectively.

About the Role

This role sits at the intersection of submissions, marketing and client delivery and it’s one that has a real impact on how Amicus shows up in the room.

You’ll be embedded in the Design team, working closely with the Sales team, Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts across the business. Some days that means bringing a tender document to life under a tight deadline. Others, it’s collaborating with a client to develop the visual language for their project – signage, graphics, the full picture. The thread through all of it is the same: taking what Amicus does and making it look as good as it actually is.

This is a role for someone who understands that great design at this level isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about clarity, credibility and that next layer of finish that makes the difference.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Design and layout visually compelling tender documents, Capability Statements and presentations, primarily in Adobe InDesign
  • Transform complex technical data, methodologies and workflows into clear, engaging infographics, diagrams and process visuals
  • Work directly with SMEs to develop visual language and branding briefs for specific projects, translating these into polished client-ready deliverables
  • Maintain both Amicus brand standards and a level of client-specific customisation across all outputs, keeping both front of mind, always
  • Liaise with the Sales team and technical stakeholders to ensure graphics creatively and accurately reflect what we do
  • Perform desktop publishing, formatting and final quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Manage and update our library of iconography, case studies, team profiles and proposal graphics

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in graphic design, ideally within a corporate, professional services, or built environment context
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, in particular InDesign, with strong Illustrator and Photoshop skills
  • A Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design or a related field
  • Meticulous attention to detail, even under deadline pressure
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to proactively follow up with stakeholders to get what you need
  • An understanding of bid and tender documentation processes (or a willingness to learn)
  • Familiarity with digital asset management and file organisation best practice
  • Some knowledge of print production and pre-press is a bonus
  • A portfolio that shows you can make technical, complex information look simple and engaging

What Might Not Work for You

  • If you prefer working in isolation. This role is genuinely collaborative and relies on strong relationships across the business
  • If highly templated or brand-governed design feels restrictive – working within a system (while finding room for craft within it) is central to what we do
  • If you’re not comfortable with deadlines driven by external clients and tender timelines.

What You’ll Get

  • 9-day fortnight
  • Hybrid working arrangements and a genuinely flexible, high-trust environment
  • An activity-based workspace designed around the way people actually work
  • Tailored development and training opportunities
  • A team culture that celebrates wins, supports each other, and takes the work seriously without taking themselves too seriously
