Description

At Ambrose Construct Group, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of the insurance building industry. With a track record of delivering exceptional results and a passion for innovation, we’re expanding nationally and seeking a Senior Desktop Building Estimator to join our team based at our Kunda Park office.

You’ll operate as 2IC to the National VA / Tenders Leader, sitting at the centre of national repair outcomes combining estimating, technical auditing, and virtual assessments to drive “right first time” results across complex insurance projects.

Beyond your own workload, you’ll play a key role in supporting team performance, improving consistency, and acting as an escalation point for complex scope and methodology decisions.

If you’re a high-performing estimator ready to step into leadership, this role provides the platform to influence outcomes at scale without moving away from the technical work you enjoy.

Why Join Ambrose Construct Group

  • Step into leadership: clear 2IC role with real influence across the function.
  • High-impact position: shape repair outcomes nationally, not just individual jobs.
  • Career progression: pathway into formal leadership or principal technical roles.
  • Strong team culture: collaborative, multi-trade approach focused on getting it right first time.
  • Expert support: Access to a national head office team and industry specialists who prioritise learning, development, and continuous improvement.
  • Empowering leadership: A servant leadership model that fosters growth and ensures you’re supported to achieve your best every day.

As a Desktop Building Estimator, you will:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service through effective communication, relationship building, and conflict resolution.
  • Estimate, schedule, and supervise trades remotely.
  • Coordinate make-safes and review reports for insurers with precision and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with trades to ensure observations and actions are communicated effectively via photos and written reports.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for someone who is ready to step beyond individual delivery into leadership influence:

  • Construction background (carpentry or trade preferred).
  • Strong understanding of residential construction and repair methodologies.
  • Experience in estimating, scope writing, or insurance repairs.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical reports and make confident, informed decisions.
  • Strong written communication skills with clear, professional reporting capability.
  • Commercial mindset with focus on cost control and value outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, guide, or influence others (formal or informal).

What Ambrose Construct Group offers:

  • Exciting career growth opportunities within the role and Ambrose Construct Group.
  • A supportive, safe, and passionate team culture.
  • A supportive and encouraging workplace culture with a passionate team.
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program.
  • $2000 referral reward for successful candidate referrals.
  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing professional development.
  • Modern office facilities and resources.
  • Staff engagement initiatives, including fortnightly morning tea and monthly BBQs.
