Description

As we expand our Tank Inspection operations into Victoria, we are looking for a skilled and safety-focused Tank Inspector to join our growing team.

This is a field-based role where you will carry out water tank inspections, cleaning and detailed reporting using both ROV technology and manual inspection methods, ensuring safety, compliance and outstanding client outcomes.

 

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for conducting inspections of fire and potable water tanks across a range of client sites throughout Victoria.

This role offers a great mix of:

  • Hands-on field inspection and ROV operation
  • Technical assessment and defect identification
  • Detailed reporting and condition documentation
  • Direct client interaction and onsite representation
  • Contribution to water safety and infrastructure compliance 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections of fire and potable water tanks using ROV technology and manual methods
  • Identify defects, corrosion, leaks and compliance issues
  • Capture video and imagery, and produce detailed inspection reports
  • Provide recommendations for maintenance and repairs
  • Perform cleaning activities where required
  • Liaise professionally with clients onsite and explain findings
  • Comply with all WHS policies, SWMS, confined space and permit requirements
  • Maintain and care for ROV and inspection equipment to ensure operational readiness

About You

We are looking for someone who combines technical capability with a strong safety mindset and a commitment to quality work.

You will ideally bring:

  • Experience working in a field-based, site or industrial environment (e.g. construction, mining, maintenance or utilities)
  • Strong understanding of WHS requirements, particularly in high-risk environments
  • Experience following SWMS, JSA and permit systems
  • Ability to carry out inspections, fault identification and condition assessments
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to produce accurate reports and documentation
  • Good communication skills with ability to interact professionally with clients onsite
  • Physically capable of performing manual tasks and working in confined or elevated environments
  • Basic IT skills for reporting, image capture and data entry

Highly regarded:

  • Experience in tank inspection, cleaning, water infrastructure or fire compliance services
  • Familiarity with AS1851 or similar inspection and maintenance standards
  • Experience operating ROV or inspection camera equipment
  • Trade or technical background in mechanical systems, pumps or asset maintenance
  • Understanding of defect identification, corrosion and asset condition reporting

Licences & Certifications

The following are required (or will need to be obtained):

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence (minimum C Class)
  • White Card (Construction Induction)
  • Working at Heights certification
  • Confined Space Entry certification
  • First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Trade qualification (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Fabrication) or relevant technical background
  • High Risk Work Licence
  • Training or certification in AS1851 inspection requirements
  • ROV operation certification or training
