Domestic Assistance Support Worker – Support at Home

Allegiance Heart & Home Care is seeking a reliable, compassionate and experienced Home Care Support Worker to provide in-home aged care support to an older client living independently in the Hayborough area.
The current shift is 3 hours per week, initially focused on domestic assistance, Medication support, Community access and practical home support. Hours and duties may increase in the future depending on the client’s care needs, including possible personal care support.
About the Role
You will support the client to remain safe, comfortable and independent at home. Duties may include:
- General household cleaning
- Laundry assistance
- Changing linen
- Kitchen and bathroom cleaning
- Tidying and maintaining a safe home environment
- Light meal preparation or support with organising meals
- Prompting or reminding the client with meals, where required
- Medication prompting, within scope and according to care instructions
- Transport to appointments, shopping or community access
- Assistance with shopping and errands
- Basic gardening or coordinating gardening needs, where applicable
- Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client’s wellbeing, home safety, appetite, cognition, medication routines or support needs
- Completing progress notes after each shift
As the client’s support needs may increase, the right candidate must also have experience and confidence providing personal care, which may include:
- Showering assistance
- Dressing and grooming support
- Toileting or continence support
- Mobility and transfer support
- Maintaining dignity, privacy and independence during care
About You
The successful applicant will have:
- Previous experience in aged care, disability support, home care, domestic assistance and personal care
- Experience supporting older people living independently at home
- Confidence with medication prompting and following care instructions
- A caring, patient and respectful approach
- Good communication and observation skills
- Ability to identify and report changes in client wellbeing or home safety
- Ability to follow care plans and complete progress notes
- Reliability and commitment to regular weekly shifts
- Willingness to increase hours or duties in the future if required
Essential Requirements
- Experience providing personal care is essential
- Current Police Check or willingness to obtain one
- NDIS Worker Screening Check or willingness to obtain one
- Current First Aid Certificate desirable
- Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle required
- Comprehensive car insurance preferred
- Relevant aged care, disability or community services experience preferred
