Position Overview

As our project portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Engineering Lead to join our organisation and play a key role in driving engineering governance, technical assurance, and design management across multiple renewable energy and power infrastructure projects. Reporting to senior leadership, the Engineering Lead is responsible for overseeing engineering strategy, managing technical interfaces, and ensuring consistent engineering standards across a diverse portfolio of utility-scale projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, Construction teams, PMO functions, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to ensure engineering deliverables are safe, compliant, practical, and aligned with project and business objectives. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from development and design through to construction, commissioning, and handover.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering governance, technical assurance, and design management across multiple renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee engineering delivery across utility-scale solar, BESS, substations, and transmission infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure engineering outputs comply with Australian Standards, grid connection requirements, and project specifications.
  • Manage technical interfaces between disciplines including civil, electrical, mechanical, and OEM packages.
  • Provide technical leadership during design development, review, and approval processes.
  • Support EPC project delivery models, ensuring engineering alignment with construction and commissioning requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and manage technical risks across the project portfolio.
  • Support procurement, tendering, and contractor evaluation through technical input and review.
  • Engage with clients, consultants, Independent Engineers, and Owner’s Engineers to resolve technical matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering systems, processes, and standards.
  • Provide regular engineering reporting, insights, and risk updates to senior management.
  • Support commissioning and energisation activities where required.

 

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 10–15 years’ engineering experience within infrastructure, utilities, transmission, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects including solar, BESS, substations, and transmission infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of EPC project delivery models.
  • Experience in engineering governance, technical assurance, and design management.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, grid connection requirements, and HV electrical infrastructure.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex technical interfaces across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and risk management capability.
  • PMO or portfolio governance experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status.
  • Experience with digital engineering platforms and BIM environments.
  • Exposure to commissioning and energisation processes.
  • Experience working with Owner’s Engineer or Independent Engineer interfaces.
