Position Overview

The Bid Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating end-to-end tender submissions, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and competitive bids are delivered on time and aligned with business win strategies. The role will manage the full bid lifecycle, working across technical, commercial, and operational teams to develop compelling submissions across electrical infrastructure, utilities, energy, renewables, substations, transmission, distribution, rail power, and water/power infrastructure projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate end-to-end bid and tender submissions across electrical infrastructure, utilities, energy, renewables, substations, transmission, distribution, rail power, and water/power infrastructure projects.
  • Manage the full tender lifecycle including receipt, planning, coordination, delivery, review, and submission.
  • Develop and maintain bid programs, deliverable trackers, and submission plans to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate inputs across estimating, engineering, delivery, commercial, legal, and business development teams.
  • Prepare and manage high-quality written submission content, ensuring alignment with win themes and client requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with tender governance requirements, executive approvals, and submission standards.
  • Manage client tender portals, returnable, and document control processes.
  • Lead bid reviews, challenge assumptions, and ensure completeness and quality of all submission inputs.
  • Support risk identification, commercial positioning, and bid strategy development.
  • Maintain a strong focus on deadlines, coordination, and structured delivery of all bid activities.

 

Key Interfaces

  • Estimating: pricing, bill of quantities, assumptions, exclusions, and risk allowances.
  • Engineering: technical solution, methodology, compliance, and constructability inputs.
  • Delivery: construction methodology, resourcing, programme, and deliverability.
  • Commercial / Legal: departures, risk allocation, contract review, and approval requirements.
  • Business Development: client strategy, win themes, and relationship intelligence.
  • Executives: bid/no-bid decisions, approval gates, and final submission sign-off.

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in bid management, tenders, pre-contracts, or work-winning roles within electrical infrastructure, utilities, energy, renewables, substations, transmission, distribution, rail power, water/power infrastructure, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of complex tender environments involving multiple technical, commercial, and operational stakeholders.
  • Experience managing major tender governance processes, executive approvals, returnables, and client submission portals.
  • Highly commercially aware, structured, deadline-driven, and comfortable challenging incomplete or inconsistent inputs.
  • Strong coordination, writing, and stakeholder management capabilities across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent bids under tight timeframes while maintaining quality and compliance.
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to assess risks, opportunities, and bid positioning.
